Charles will always be remembered by me as a true gentleman. His passion for the things that were part of him brought joy to those who knew him. I miss his utter happiness when behind the wheel of his BMW and his cool calm demeanor.

It's been 12 years since Charlie passed. I am always reminded that he was a friend who shared the same interests about our model building hobby. He is missed in the community and we will continue to remember his wit and humor. R.I.P.

We are very indebted to Charlie for that wonderful month-long visit to us during our 1976-78 stay in Vienna, to collaborate with us in a research endeavor. Charlie was a delight to work with. We will very much miss him.

I had the privilege to have known Charles as a colleague for many years. My sincere sympathy goes out to his family for their loss. He was an exceptionally talented advisor for several of my research grants. His visits to our Duke lab were highly anticipated and welcomed. Because of his warm, gracious manners and his wisdom, he greatly affected the careers of my research associates and students. Charles was a man of many distinctions and achievements, yet he was modest about his own considerable creative abilities as a physicist and educator. He was an esteemed colleague and close friend. I will keep him in my thoughts and prayers. Charles will be dearly missed by all.

I was very saddened to hear of Charlie's passing. I worked for Charlie for a few years, and remained friends even after leaving Chicago. We shared a love of British mystery shows, and I'll think of him whenever I watch Inspector Morse. My deepest sympathy goes out to his family, and to all who knew him.
