Brother Joyce; 35 years after graduation still pops in my mind from time to time. Simply put, one great man.........

BROTHER JOYCE WAS MY FAVORITE TEACHER AT BROTHER RICE IN CHICAGO. I HAD HIM FOR TWO MECHANICAL DRAWING CLASSES AND ALSO AS A COACH FOR SWIMMING. I WILL NEVER FORGET HIM OR HIS SMILE. I WAS FORTUNATE TO STAY IN THE CHICAGO AREA SO I WAS ABLE TO KEEP IN TOUCH WITH HIM OVER THE YEARS. HE WAS VERY PROUD OF THOSE STAINED GLASS WINDOWS IN THE B.R. CHAPEL. I'M SURE HE'S DOING A FEW FOR HEAVEN RIGHT NOW. HEAVEN WILL BE A BETTER PLACE BECAUSE HE IS THERE.

This Man was such a role model. He taught me many life long rules that I used to raise my family all these years. Fifty years of friendship. God did bless me with knowing this man.

Though not a big man, he was a giant. He was an inspiration to me and many others in my high school class of 1964 at Br. Rice. He was a mentor, he was an example. His laugh was hearty, his sense of humor large. He truly was the champion of the underdog in so many ways. He wasn't afraid of getting his hands dirty as he often did the task others neglected to do. He was faithful and loyal; he was one who called it as he saw it and he was right more often than not. I owe my calling to the Christian Brothers to him. Thank you, Charlie Joyce - you were truly a good man.
