To The Hennessey family:
Chuck was very kind to us several times when we had trouble with our horses. He was a neighbor in the true sense of the word. We will miss his kindness and good deeds.

I was one of Chuck's first troops after he came to LPD in 1976 working northeast 3rd shift. My 3 years in the checks & fraud unit working with Chuck was such a pleasure. If I needed to find a contact, or who was working what case all I had to do was ask Chuck. The best thing I will always remember about Chuck is his big heart....he really cared! Always such an inspiration. Chuck, I will surely miss you! My thoughts and prayers are with Phyllis and family.

Chuck was a model for us all: patient, quiet, hard-working, loyal, with a quiet sense of humor and always a kind word or greeting ready. He was what we all would like to be remembered as--a good person.

I truely appreciate your patience with me when working on a case. I could give you a vague description and you would know which way to point me to find the party responsible. You even knew what I should say to get the confession. You were truely amazing. I got us both a LPD challenge coin and told you that I am waiting for a challenge. I still expect it so another time and place we will meet again. Your heart was gold and I have learned so much from you. Thank you for the wonderful memories and "raising us".

Chuck LPD189 was my Sergeant on night shift and days. He was truly a warrior, actively involved with investigations and arrests. His people skills and loyalty to those that worked under him was tops. One night I found a grotesque gorilla mask duirng a building search after an alarm. It provided an excellent setup for a typical third shift gag. Scared the heck out of Chuck that night but he was a good sport about those sorts of antics. He was the type of Cop that would have had a hard time separting from the work. Great Co-worker and friend. I always admired him. Tom LPD#306

It's very hard to put feeling into words. My pappaw chuck was great in so many ways. I will never forget helping him feed the horses and pigeons, or begging to ride the horses until he finally caved. We would sit in the barn watching the pigeons while he told me stories about anything I wanted to hear. He was a great man but he was an even better pappaw.I love you and will miss you. Jessi

I loved my short stint in "Chucks" and fraud...Chuck enjoyed his work, and his patience help catch lots of bad guys. I hope he takes those huge belt buckles with him! Chuck, you'll be missed by all.

There's not much to say that has not already been said. I remember first working with you on 3rd shift NWC. Those were great times. It was great having a true cowboy at LPD to talk to. You will be greatly missed. I just want your family to know that my thoughts and prayers are with them.

Chuck's tenacity in going after the "bad guys" will be sorely missed. It was a previledge to work with him on our check fraud cases at TierOne Bank. I will miss him. My prayers are with his family.

Chuck, You are the very reason I am still in the business of tracking the bad guys.We would meet halfway between Omaha and Lincoln and swap information on the "Fraudsters". Your knowledge, direction and professionalism will be missed. As good of a Law Enforcement official you were, you were even a better friend. The community as a whole has lost a man "who did it his way"! God Bless

Chuck had one of the best work ethics I had seen at LPD. He just kept hanging in there, getting things done. Chuck had a good heart for helping others, particularly new officers as well as citizens of Lincoln. Best of all, I liked it when Chuck could laugh at himself or with others at some of the events that Police Officers are confronted with. Chuck was a good Cop in every sense of the word.

I am so sad to hear of Chuck's passing. I first got to know him when I joined LPD in 1971 and he was Chief of the Park Rangers. He was a great guy to work with then and that continued when the Park Rangers merged with LPD. I have been to his farm and saw first hand his joy and love of horses. My sincere condolences to his family.

Chuck was a walking encylopedia when it came to fraud cases, criminals, etc. as many of us in the financial industry have been saying since we got the news. He will be dearly missed as apart of the group. Our thoughts are with the family. Peace.

Chuck was one of my first supervisors on the police department. As we came on and off duty I would notice he usually sported a belt buckle big enough to choke a mule. The buckles were more like pie plates than belt buckles. In any case, I inquired as to where he obtained those unique accoutrements.
Chuck explained that in his younger days he was a bull rider in various rodeos. The belt buckles were proof of the events he had won.
He had even competed against the late great Lane Frost.
Chuck was the type of guy who would never blow his own horn, but the circles in which he walked and the elbows against which he had rubbed would amaze us all.
Chuck will be missed!

What can I say, when I was a rookie I spent a month rotation in checks & frauds and first met "Chuck". Since that month I have wanted to do nothing but work in that unit with him and hope I could make him proud. I'll never forget the day this last Dec. he called me so he could be the one to give me the news that I made it in! Unfortunatley I will not have the pleasure to work side by side with him, but I will always thank him for giving me the desire to do my best. Thanks for everything you have taught me and thanks for being my other "Dad"!

Godspeed Chuck. I enjoyed catching all the bad guys with you during my years at Whitehead Oil. You never failed to impress me with your wit and your tenacity, and you were my "bad check buddy" all those years. A light has dimmed here on earth, but one shines brightly now in heaven. You will be very sadly missed. Phyllis, to you, my most sincere condolences.

The first time I saw Chuck he was sauntering down the hallway at LPD like an old west cowboy. He at first came across as a gruff, tuff, veteran until you got to know him. When you finally got to the real Chuck, he was a kind, and gentle man with a good sense of humor. He will be my true "cowboy" here at LPD and remembered by many as one of the best. Thank you Chuck for all that you accomplished in your life.

I enjoyed talking with Chuck. We live on a farm near Shorty and Mary West so every now and then we would visit about how much rain we got and how the crops were growing and Chuck could relate. He was interesting to talk to and he will be missed at LPD.

Dear Phyllis and family,
You don't know me but I have known Chuck for about 24 years through LPD. I ran many, many things for him when I worked at the service desk/channel 50 area. He always had a ready smile and was never impatient when the computers were slow. He will be greatly missed by all. My condolences to all of you.

Oh, where to begin. It's hard to put into words what a great "Uncle Chuck" you were to me. I remember screaming around the city in the middle of the night, hearing your war stories about the city of Lincoln and it's Finest. You and Phyllis would light up my life when we'd run into each other at a social event. You never failed to make me smile. Today I am not smiling however, I'll miss you.
