FEB. 1, 1929 — APRIL 3, 2008

OSKALOOSA — Charles L. “Chuck” Heaton Jr., 79, of Oskaloosa, passed away Thursday morning, April 3, 2008, at the Hospice of Pella Comfort House in Pella.Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 9, at Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Don Job officiating. Burial will be in Forest Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 8, at Garland-VanArkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel, the family will be at the funeral chapel from 6 to 8 p.m. to greet friends and relatives. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Pella Comfort House or The Alzheimer’s Association.Charles L. Heaton, son of Charles and Beulah L. Steinkamp Heaton was born Feb. 1, 1929, in Bussey. He was a 1947 graduate of Oskaloosa High School. He married Louise Moffet April 4, 1947, in Troy, Kan., recently celebrating 61 years of marriage. Chuck worked for General Mills in Oskaloosa from 1947-1950, Schultz Motors Dodge-Plymouth Dealer from 1950-1955 as Service Manager, Iowa Valve from 1955-1965 as Lead Man in Maintenance and owned and operated Heaton Service Center from 1965-1989.Chuck enjoyed spending time with his family, camping with their travel trailer on weekends and spent 20 winters in Apache Junction, Ariz.Chuck’s family includes his wife Louise, of Oskaloosa; and his daughter Linda and Bill Binns, of Oskaloosa; and his son Lee and Kerry Heaton, of Rochester, Minn.; his grandchildren: Steve and Kendra Heaton, of Oskaloosa, Cara and Rick Beyer, of Monroe, Owen and Ann Binns, of Oskaloosa, Sarah and Quintin Shepherd, of Amboy, Ill., C.J. and Jessica Heaton, of Omaha, Neb., and Katie and Jeremy Kilburg, of Dubuque, and 12 great-grandchildren.He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Henry, and one great-grandson Jordan Lee Heaton.This obituary is viewable at www.legacy.com
