CHARLES FRETWELL Obituary

- Charles R. Fretwell, 91, passed away April 23, 2012. Mr. Fretwell moved to the Daytona Beach area at the age of two years old. He attended area schools, graduating from Mainland High School in 1939. He began his career working at Ruland Brothers Plumbing. He married Frances Etta Mayo in 1941 and with the birth of their first daughter, began their family in June 1942. An Army veteran of World War II, he returned home and resumed his work as a local plumber. He spent many interesting years working at Cape Canaveral in the Space Program. He retired in 1986 continuing his membership in the UA Local 295, receiving his Seventieth Year Membership Certificate this year. He was also a Master Mason of Lodge 270, receiving his Fifty-Five Year Certificate in 2007. He enjoyed sharing his knowledge of the history of the area and his work at Cape Canaveral. He is survived by a daughter, Linda F. Robertson; granddaughter and grandson-in law, Kelli R. and Michael G. Brinegar, Jr.; great-granddaughter, Skylar L. Brinegar all of Panama City , Florida ; grandsons ,W. Stanley Rawls , Charles B. Rawls and wife Celena of Loganville, Georgia. Brother, Robert E. Fretwell of Lake City, Florida and sister, Ellen F. Leslie of Tampa, Florida; son-in law Dr. Ben Rawls of Ormond Beach, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Frances M. Fretwell; daughter, Frances F. Rawls; daughter, Barbara F. Roberts; wife, Lucy M. Fretwell; brothers, John H. and Marvin S. Fretwell; sisters, Lee F. Burnsed, Stella F. Harp and Ruth F. Armistead ; parents, Will S. and Dora R. Fretwell; son-in law, Clancy H. Robertson. Services will be held Saturday, April 28 at 11:00 a.m. in the Lohman Funeral Home Ormond Chapel.
