Charles Bowers Obituary

Bowers, Charles M. "Chuck"

Charles M. "Chuck" Bowers, 105, passed away on June 8th, 2022 at the Advocate Lutheran General Hospital. Born to Charles and Mabel Bowers of Chicago, Illinois. Chuck grew up in Chicago as an only child. He served honorably in the U.S. Army during World War II. He had seen many life changing events in the 105 years of his life. Chuck was a passionate avid collector of model trains. One of his favorite pastimes was setting up train sets with villages, tunnels and all the characters he could incorporate. His other hobbies consisted of his country music, recording movies, programs and even classical music. Chuck was very proud of his accomplishments and loved to show anyone how they all operated. He was amazing and touched many lives with his generosity, empathy, humor & love of life. Chuck never really met a stranger, whether it was in the grocery store or just for a walk, he would strike up a conversation. His attitude was infectious and will be missed by all that knew and loved him. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased in death by his wife, Mary Jean (Fouts) Bowers; sons John and Jimmy LaRocca, grandson's Wesley Robertson, Aric Wooley and John LaRocca Jr. Survivors include daughter's Evelyn Gillis of Derry, NH, Charlene Wooley (Jerry) Apple River, Illinois, Janet Robertson (Riley Wayne) of Chicago, Illinois and son Vince LaRocca (Twyla) Chapman, Kansas. 12 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren & 13 great great grandchildren. Military Honors will take place Wednesday, June15th at 2:30 P.M. in Elwood, Illinois at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. Date to be determined for Celebration of Life Memorial.
