Chanie Willis Obituary

Willis, Chanie M. Jones age 82, a Gary resident for over 67 years and formerly of Forrest City, AR, passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2002, at her residence. She was a member of St. Paul Baptist Church and a homemaker. Chanie is survived by her husband, Johnnie Willis of Gary, IN; two sons, Johnnie E. (Beverly) Willis Jr. of Chicago, IL and James E. Willis of Gary, IN; one brother, Clinton Culler of Forrest City, AR; two nephews, Frank L. Harris of Gary, IN and Fred (Barbara) Mooney of Forrest City, AR; one niece, Mattie M. Wofford of Forrest City, AR and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation Sunday, April 21, 2002, from 12 noon to 8 p.m. Family hour from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Guy & Allen Chapel, 2959 W. 11th Ave. Mrs. Willis will be taken to the St. Paul Baptist Church, 2300 Grant St., Monday, April 22, 2002, to lie in state from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. with a Family hour from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Funeral services will follow immediately at 11 a.m. at the church, Rev. Everett Gray officiating. Interment Oak Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Paul Baptist Church in the name of Johnnie & Chanie Willis.
