Celia Lustig Obituary

Lustig, Celia Longtime resident and active community member on the North Shore of Chicago died peacefully Thursday Jan 4th in Southern California. Born Aug 11, 1930 on the west side of Chicago, Celia attended Marshall High School, was her class valedictorian at Northeastern Teachers College, and later received a Master's Degree in Education. Celia was married to Arnold Lustig for 56 years before his passing. Celia loved teaching children at both Sharp Corner and Devonshire Elementary Schools in Skokie, Illinois. Celia was an active community member, social activist and educator, working for and supporting Hadassah, the Chicago Botanical Gardens, the Art Institute of Chicago and many more. She was the incoming President of North Shore Hadassah chapter. She loved literature, history, films, food and cooking. She is survived by two children, Marlee Steb and Mitch Lustig, their spouses Steve Steb and Tina Lustig, and five grandchildren. Donations can be sent to North Shore Hadassah, Northbrook IL.

Mrs. Lustig was my 4th grade teacher in 1960 at Sharp Corner. I can still see her beautiful smile. She made quite an impression on me as she is the only grade school teacher I really remember at all.
My condolences to the family. I will forever have fond memories.

Celia was a neighbor who i would drive to the airport.Celia was always funny, up beat, and fun to be with. Se will be missed....
