Cherf, Celia E. age 97, of Lyons, formerly of Berwyn, loving sister of Anne (the late Alexander) Pyshny, George (Jean), Joseph (the late Helen), Georgia, the late Stephen (the late Jenny), late Laddie (the late Irene) and late Edward, loving aunt to several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Resting at Kopicki's Heritage Funeral Home, 3117 S. Oak Park Ave., Berwyn. Visitation Friday, 3 to 8 p.m. Funeral Saturday, 8:30 a.m., Prayers to St. Leonard Church for 9:30 a.m. Mass. I met Celia and Georgia, as 3rd floor neighbors in Berwyn on Ridgeland Ave., in the early 1960''s.
I was a young mother with two babies, age 18 months and 6 months old. My husband travelled in his work as a Financial Auditor.
The sisters befriended me by watching my babies on Sunday mornings so I could attend Mass. They offered helpful, baby-care hints like using corn starch on their heat rash and occasionally we shared a glass of wine on a lonely Saturday evening.
Even though our paths crossed for two short years some 45 years ago, Celia and Georgia's hand of friendship has left indelible, fond memories in my heart.
My sincere sympathy to Georgia and all of your loving family and friends. Bless you Dear Celia and may you rest in peace in the hands of God, Our Father.
