Cecelia McKune Obituary

MCKUNECecelia (Ceil) McKune of Duluth, Minnesota, died on Nov.19, 2003, at the age of 93. She was born Sept. 28, 1910 to Anna and Peter Oswald. She was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church until it closed. She worked for many years at Montgomery Wards and was the primary caregiver for her mother and her brother Joseph. She was baby-sitter extraordinaire, caring for her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, grand-nieces and nephews and a host of neighbor kids; all with love, patience, and treats. Those of us who loved her will remember her as an avid baseball fan and a social butterfly. She loved visiting friends and family and enjoyed doing just about anything if it got her out among people. She kept in close contact with her family in Germany and treasured her letters and cards from family and friends all over the country. She was a great friend to so many and she made a lasting impression on everyone who knew her. But most importantly she was a wonderful mother and grandmother. Her favorite pastime was spending time with her great-grandchildren. Ceil will be lovingly remembered by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren as well as her nieces, nephews, and friends and neighbors who were touched by her generous, caring spirit. She was preceded in death by her husband Jack; and ten brothers and sisters including her twin sister Margaret. She is survived by two sons, Patrick (Joyce) McKune of Duluth; and Michael (Jolene) McKune of Bloomington, Minn.; three grandchildren, Stacey McKune DeRoche, Shawn (Karl) Pederson, and Michael McKune and a step-grand-daughter, Carla Simmons, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, and their families. She will be sadly missed by her great-grandchildren, Caden and Kalise Cecelia DeRoche, Braden and Alaina Pederson and Madisson and Mason Simmons. They were the light of her life and they loved her so much. VISITATION:10 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary Star of the Sea, Nov. 22nd. Burial at Calvary Cemetery. Memorials can be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital. Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home 727-3555
