Carroll Caton Obituary

BIGELOW, Mo. - Carroll D. Caton, 90, Bigelow, went to his eternal home, Monday, Nov. 26, 2007, at Heartland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph.
He was born Nov. 5, 1917, to Grant Howell and Martha (Erwin) Caton. He was raised by his Uncle John and Aunt Zula (Caton) Erwin after the death of his parents.
In 1935, Carroll was graduated from Mound City (Mo.) High School.
He served in the 5th Air Force South Pacific Theatre from 1942 to 1943. Carroll was the tail gunner on B-17's, earning the rank of staff sergeant. He flew more than 56 missions with the 467 Bomb Squadron.
On Dec. 21, 1947, he married Louise Rasnic.
A farmer and great fisherman, Carroll lived most of his life in the Bigelow area.
He was preceded in death by his parents; guardian aunt and uncle; three brothers, Marvin, Kenneth E. and Frank Caton; three sisters, Ethel and Cecil Caton, and Elsie Jones; and his first wife, Rose (Voltmer) Caton.
Survivors include his wife, Louise of the home; his daughter, Rita Kaye Drewes, and son-in-law, Robert of Craig, Mo.; sister, Pauline Shields of Mound City; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; sisters-in-law, Joan Lehmer and Joyce Rasnic; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Service: 2 p.m. Wednesday, Faith Fellowship Church, Oregon, Mo. There is no scheduled family visitation. Burial: Mount Hope Cemetery, Mound City. In charge of arrangements: Chamberlain Funeral Home & Monuments, Mound City.
