Dear Chip and family,
I'm so sad about the passing of Carol. I'm the administrator for the local Television Academy chapter. Several days ago, I was working on the seating of the Chicago/Midwest Emmy Awards and I was at the WMAQ tables. I reached out to call my friend Carol to discuss who to sit with who and how to arrange the tables. I knew she was gone and now with the angels but I still wanted to call her so I dialed her number one last time and heard her voice. We had so many late night talks during this time of year. Sometimes, these talks would go on for an hour or so as we both tried to convince each other that we should go home but we had to do one last thing... She was truly wonderful and I just hear her voice in my head. She cared so deeply for her friends at WMAQ. She wanted to make sure that every entry had the correct names, this person could attend the awards even if she had to give up her seat, etc. This list could go on and on. There were so many times that she took that extra step to make everything right. I know I will miss her. My sincere condolences to Chip and the whole family.

Carol WAS NBC5 in Chicago. I had the pleasure of working with her for over 17 years. She was truly one of the kindest women I have ever known who worked endlessly...with that constant smile on her face that rubbed off on everyone who ever had the pleasure to be around her. She will be missed by so many. My thoughts and prayers go out to Chip and her entire family.

To Chip & the Cooling Family:

As I attended the visitation for Carol yesterday, it reaffirmed what I'd known all along. Carol was a "difference-maker" and had an impact on many lives, including my own. The show of compassion and support demonstrated what Carol was all about...friendship. You never had to ask her, she just went ahead and gave an "assist", never looking for anything in return.

The Carol Cooling's of the world don't come around often. When they do, we must cherish them. In my lifetime, there's always that rare individual who stays with you, even when they're no longer with us. Carol was one of those rare and special people.

I, like you, will miss her. However, I will be able to draw upon so many happy and joyous memories. I'm just glad I got to know her and wish, as we all do, her time with us, could have been longer.

Carol was one-of-a-kind: selfless, mindful and generous. I've never met anyone with the kind of passionate dedication she possessed. She always seemed to go out of her way to help everyone no matter how big or small the task at hand. During the 2016 Bid, she and I worked closely together. Never once did I ever hear her say "no." She moved mountains effortlessly with her gracious attitude. Her spirit will live on in me and all the people she touched.

If we open our eyes and pay attention to the gifts God sends us we would certainly know that Carol was on of those gifts. She will always be remembered for how she led her life here with us. A true example of how we should treat each other. Pray for us Carol that in honoring your memory we can remember how you lived with such integrity and love. All our thoughts and prayers for you Chip and both families. DME

I am very honored to have known Carol during my employment at WMAQ-TV. She was truly dedicated to her professional role and she always allowed anyone who she came in contact with to feel totally at ease under all circumstances. Knowing just a little about how she grew up, Carol always exhibited the high ethical and moral standards of her wonderful family. I am truly glad that my friend Chip Kopp was able to share his life with Carol. I offer my sympathy and prayers to all of her family and friends.

I had the honor and privilege of knowing Carol for the past 7 years and will miss our conversations and her friendship. No one stayed on top of things like Carol.

She extended the bond of friendship when we worked on some events and she was my biggest "booster".

To her family and other friends, I offer my sincere condolences.
