July 4, 1948 – Feb. 24, 2008

Carol Ballentine, 59 of Union, Missouri, passed away Feb. 24, 2008, at her residence, after an extended illness.

She was born July 4, 1948, in Livingston, Tenn., the daughter of Troy and Beulah (Greenwood) Hargis. She had spent all her adult life in the Anderson and Muncie area, except for the last four years that she and her husband lived in Union, Missouri. Her first love was her family. She also enjoyed interior decorating and gardening.

She is survived by her husband of 36 years, James Ballentine of Union, Missouri; four children, Michael W. Ballentine of Anderson, William B. Harris of Indianapolis, Anthony N. (wife, Susan) Ballentine of Gainsboro Tenn., and Jaima (husband, David) Shellabarger of Muncie; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; a sister, Geneva (husband, Joe) Lee of Anderson.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Troy Hargis; and two sisters, Eva Foster and Betty Cantrell.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home , 515 E. 53rd St., Anderson, officiated by Pastor Rusty Clements of Center Chapel United Methodist Church of Muncie. Entombment will take place at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
