Carla McDonald Obituary

Carla Jo McDonald Carla Jo McDonald was born on February 19, 1961 in Wichita Falls, Texas. She went to be with the Lord, suddenly and unexpectedly, September 15, 2009. She is survived by her husband of eighteen years, Jon Stacy McDonald; daughter, Emily Ann McDonald; mother, Lavelle Connor; brother, Craig Connor, his wife Kelly and their daughter, Hunter; father and mother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Robert W. McDonald, Jr.; brother-in-law, Robert W. McDonald III; nephews, R.W. McDonald IV and Zachary McDonald; and sister-in-law, Mary Elese McDonald. Carla was raised in Wichita Falls, Texas and graduated from Rider High School in 1979. She attended Texas Tech University and was still an active member of Chi Omega sorority. Carla moved to Austin in 1984, and has resided in Lakeway since 1993. Carla's family meant the world to her and her to them. Saying she had lots of friends does not come close to describing her impact on the community. She knew everybody and she touched their lives deeply. You were never just a casual friend to Carla. Her beauty, kindness, caring and love became a part of you. Her spirit and goodness were given over to everyone she knew. Being Carla McDonald's friend was a bond shared by many, was never taken for granted and will never be forgotten. A celebration service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, September 17, 2009 at Lake Hills Church, 11521 Bee Caves Road in Austin. Interment will follow at Cook- Walden/Forest Oaks Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made in honor of Carla to: the Lakeway Church Youth Building Fund (www.lakewaychurch.net), the Lake Travis Education Foundation (www.laketraviseducationfoundation.org), or Mobile Loaves and Fishes (www.mlfnow.org). Please join us in celebrating Carla's life by visiting our Memorial at www.mem.com where we invite you to share your thoughts and fond memories with our family.

To Carla's Family,
Our deepest sympathy goes out to each of you in your loss. I worked with Carla at Tramex in the early 90's and will always remember her lovely smile and the joy that surrounded her in every way. As we mourn for her here on earth, the heavens are rejoicing in bringing one of their angels home.

Jon and Emily,
What a beautiful tribute to an amazing woman! After attending the services on Thursday and having time to reflect it is apparent how supremely blessed we all were for having known and loved Carla. She touched so many lives in her 48 years and you and Emily were so blessed to have her. Carla really was the hands and feet of Christ as she reached out to all with her smile, her welcoming personality and her love. Although our time with her seems brief, we know through God's promises we will see her again in heaven. Hold tight to His promise, His word and to each other knowing that hundreds will be lifting you up in prayer as you continue this journey. Thank you for inviting us to the house after the service where we could continue to meet and mourn with Carla's friends and family. We will love and miss our dear Chi-O pledge sister.

Jon;

Words can never express the sorry and pain that one feels over the loss of a loved one and as much as people say I know what you are going through...they really don't unless they have experienced a loss themselves.

Find comfort in knowing that the good lord allowed Carla to be a part of your life for a while and that y'all were able to create and raise a beautiful daughter together that will be able to carry forth the beauty that her mother instilled in her.

Our prayers are with Emily and yourself as y'all move forward with god's plan.

I attended Rider High School with Carla. She was the most kindhearted person at our school. I never saw Carla that she wasn't smiling or giggling. She exemplified beauty both inside and out. It is with deep sympathy that I extend my heartfelt condolences to her husband, daughter and entire family. May the good Lord comfort you in his loving arms during this most difficult of times.

The thing about Carla is that alot of time could go by that we hadn't seen each other, and yet when we did, it was just as if it were yesterday. Her friendship was like that - solid & caring. We became friends way back during the Tramex days, and watching her smashing success in the jewelry business after that, came as no surprise. Carla was successful at everything she did.
To say that she will be missed is a gross misunderstatement.
My sincerest prayers go out to Jon, Emily & the family.

Carla glowed. She was a very loving person who helped me so much when I was getting my business started. I was expecting my first child and she was so encouraging and excited for me. Carla loved being a mom and and her eyes would sparkle whenever she talked about her family. I will cherish the memories of the shows she invited me to do with her and all of the fun we had. She will be truly missed.

Big Ticket and Emily,

Our thoughts and prayers are with you two and your family now. I so happy to have spent time with you in Louisville at Madison and Nate's wedding. We hadn't seen each other in a while but you would never think it with Carla. She treated everyone as if she had just chatted with them yesterday. Carla was and will always be the 'standard' for 'great gal'.
My sister and brother have lost a dear friend but we know she is just getting things ready for everyone 'upstairs'.
Nothing makes sense but I think the Lord gets tired of worn out souls and needs a diamond every now and then. Carla certainly was a 'clear cut flawless'...
All of my love to you and your family....Hollis and Dorothy
