Carl 72 Obituary

Port Jervis, NY

Carl Conklin, 72, passed away on Saturday, August 16, 2008, eleven days shy of his 73rd birthday. He was a hometown boy, growing up and graduating from Port Jervis High School, Class of 53. He served in the U.S. Air Force, moved to Florida in 1980 and retired from IBM in 1992. He returned to Port Jervis for a 50 year class reunion and thoroughly enjoyed seeing his former classmates!

He was proud to be a 39 year Elk member and was active in Melbourne Lodge #1744; likewise, Commander of the Legion of Honor of the Azan Shrine, Melbourne, FL. And, being part of the team who drove children to the Shriner's Hospital in Tampa medical treatment was always a rewarding experience. Carl was active in the town where he lived; charter member of the Citizens Watch Program in Malabar and served on the Board of Adjustment.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy; sister, Shirley McGoey (Tom) of Port Jervis, NY; niece, Delia Marie Lounsbery (Jim) and family of Middletown, NY; and nephew, Tim McGoey of Matamoras, PA; three stepchildren, Mike Malonis and sons, Brian and Brandon of Ridgeland, SC, Corey Schott of Palm Bay, FL, and Carlyn Schultz (Rick) and son of Indiana also survive him.

In lieu of flowers, it was requested donations be made to Azan Shrine, Transportation Unit or to the Melbourne Elks Lodge, #1744 Youth Camp.

Visitation was held on Saturday, August 23, followed by a Memorial Service at Fountainhead Funeral Home, Palm Bay, FL. Internment will be at a later date.
