Carl Baumgarten Obituary

Baumgarten, Carl H. 83, of Elk Grove Village for 50 years. Born in Chicago, he passed away December 1, at Alexian Brothers Hospice Residence. Carl was an Army Veteran, a retired salesman for commercial insulation, charter member of the Elk Grove Village VFW Post-9284 where he served as a service officer, a Bingo Caller for 25 years, and was the oldest member. Beloved husband of Marilyn L. (nee Rose) for 59 years; loving father Gerald J., Donna J. (Daniel) Ryckaert, Mark T., and Nancy L. Cruz; cherished grandfather of Eric, Adam, Kurt and Grace; dear son of the late Herman and the late Teresa. Carl was known for his dance moves and bad jokes. He brought joy and laughter to all. Visitation Thursday, December 4 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Grove Memorial Chapel, 1199 S. Arlington Hts. Rd., Elk Grove Village. Chapel prayers Friday, 10:00 a.m., proceeding to Queen of the Rosary Church for 11:00 a.m. Mass. Contributions to the Wounded Warrior Project at woundedwarriorproject.org appreciated. We are so sorry for your loss. Whenever attending a Nyman family event, we could always count on Carl for his great smile and corny jokes. It is a wonderful legacy to leave others feeling positive and cheerful. We need more like Carl in the world. He made people feel good.
