Burton Shuman Obituary

Shuman, Burton age 78, of Flossmoor, loving companion of Georgean Summers, beloved father of Jan (William) Van Straaten, Roy Shuman and Jay (Nancy) Shuman, dearest brother of Al Schuman, late Edith Kruse, late Faye Shuman, fond grandfather of Hallie, Will, Robert, Claire, Seth and Noah, loving uncle of Beth Gayle. Burton was a WWII United States Marine Veteran with the Corps Fifth Fielders, graduate of Marshall High School in Chicago. Visitation 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 19th, with service following at 11 a.m. at Hirsch Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 1751 W. 183rd St., Tinley Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association, Midwest Chapter, 2050 Pfingsten Road, Suite #127, Glenview, IL, 60025. Info., 708-532-4700. I met Burt 30 years ago as a member of PWP and have enjoyed his friendship over the years.

Burt was the one who held me together when I first joined Parents Without Partners when my husband died in 1987. He was part of our Tues. evening dinner group, and we all miss him.
