Brett was my first editor when I started at CCH four years ago. We were so timid and polite to each other at the beginning...that didn't last very long. We would always joke about how quickly our relationship had evolved from a nervous kid straight out of college afraid of her editor to two friends who could talk, vent, or joke about anything.

Brett was one of my favorite people and I looked forward to his visits to my cube, when he would announce himself with a drawn out, "hiiii-iiii." I will always remember him as a funny, interesting, sensitive, and wonderful person, and I consider myself incredibly lucky to have known him.

You have my deepest sympathies during this time. He is greatly missed.

Dear Barbara, Shelly and family, What an intervention today that I should meet Barb at the cemetery while visiting my son Brett on what would have been his 35th birthday! I am so sorry about your loss and I truly know what you are going through. If there is anything I can do for you please call me! I remember your Brett as being a handsome young man who had a wonderful personality. I told him he must be a great kid because he had my son's name. May all of his wonderful memories help you get through this horrendous time! Please call me and I will give you all the support I can. Please remember that I truly care because I have been there!

As a CCH/WK colleague of Brett's, it is surreal to think of going to work and not being able to see his face. He was always fun to be around and his dedication and professionalism will be sorely missed on the labor and employment law team. Please accept my deepest sympathy on your loss.

Brett was one of my closest and dearest friends. From the time we met on the first day of law school, I think we both realized right off the bat that we clicked in our own special way.

Brett was such a caring, loving, funny, and supportive friend to me and our family. His charm, wit, and humor were always a light of joy in our lives. He will be deeply missed. Our heart-felt sympathies go out to the Gorovsky family and to everyone else whose lives he touched.

To Brett's family:

I too worked with Brett at Wolters Kluwer, and I too also felt he was funny, kind and an overwhelmingly caring individual. Brett and I, we both worked in the same department, we are the same age, we worked on several projects together, ate lunch together, laughed about non-work related issues, and vented about work-related issues together, so hearing of his passing left me with overwhelming sadness.

I was on vacation when I heard of Brett’s passing. His untimely passing was such a shock, that I almost did not believe it, and yet here I sit, writing to his family about this sad event. I was telling my wife on the car ride home that just this past Friday, for the first time in a couple weeks, Brett sat down at my desk and we shared a laugh; he seemed relaxed and happy.

I always enjoyed Brett's company, his passion for his work, and his humor. I remember when I spoke at my father's funeral I said that, "the world seems a little more boring now that dad is gone, but those up in heaven, they must be having a blast!"

I think that is appropriate for Brett, because I am sure he is bringing a smile to the faces of everyone he is now around, just the way he did to so many of us here.

My deepest sympathies go out to your family.

I was shocked and saddened by Brett’s unexpected death. I was one of Brett’s co-workers at Wolters Kluwer (CCH) and would occasionally contribute something to him for his Employment Law Daily product. It was a treat to work with him and I enjoyed talking with him about other topics, such as baseball or movies, as well. He was smart, funny, hard-working, and definitely knew what he was talking about.

My deepest sympathies for your loss. I will keep him, and you, in my prayers.

August 4, 2010

Shelly & Barbra I can't believe this tragic moment, my deepest sympathies and condolences go out to you and your family. I know it's been awhile since i've seen you, and life is short but I am thinking of you and know you will get through this. My prayers are with you.

Shelley and Barbara,
It was with great sadness when I heard about your son. Although I never had the personal pleasure of knowing Brett, I subscribe to the old adage that: "The apple does not fall from the tree." You are wonderful people and will have many unanswered questions as you go forward. I wish I could say something else to ease your grief.
Be assured our hearts are with you.

Dear Gorovsky family: Brett was one of the first people that I met when I came to WK a little over 3 years ago. Then I found out that Brett was a Sox fan and I am the Cubs fan. Needless to say, this was always a delightful topic at lunch!! Brett always knew something about everything, no matter what the subject was.
We were friends in and out of work. Brett and I would gather with other friends and go out for sushi, which was always so much fun. We had a ‘date’ to go last evening, Tues, 8/3. It saddens me that we were never able to do that again.
Brett worked upstairs and I worked down, but Brett would always stop by and see me, we’d chat and catch up and before he left, we’d always hug each other, I’d tell him that I loved him (he always got embarrassed) and he’d tell me to kiss him on his cheek . . . I’d tell him that everything is going to be ok!
Please know that I will be keeping all of your family in my thoughts and prayers during this most difficult time – words cannot express how much I will miss him – my heart is broken.
With love – Kathy Bonifazi

I was stunned and deeply saddened by Brett's unexpected death. As a colleague of Brett's at Wolters Kluwer (CCH), he was always upbeat and positive on special projects or even the everyday mundane routine. When I thought all was doomed, he would inspire me and make me laugh till I cried. We didn't always agree on baseball issues, but it was sure fun arguing with him about it. He was one of the most caring, hard-working and intuitive coworkers that I have worked with in my 24 years at CCH. Go in peace my friend, somebody has bigger plans for you.
My deepest sympathies for your loss, as well as my prayers.

August 4, 2010

As a colleague of Brett's at Wolters Kluwer, I respected his hard work in recent months on the Employment Law Daily product. Another colleague, whose desk was near Brett's, said "He was here when I arrived in the morning, and still working when I left in the afternoon."

Please accept my deepest sympathies for your loss.

I was one of Brett's coworkers at Wolters Kluwer. We didn't work together very often but once in awhile we'd have a story to share for our newsletters. Brett was always the first to stop by and see if I needed his version. It was a pleasure to work with him. He was funny and kind, and he could always make me laugh at the frustrations of work. He will be greatly missed.

My thoughts and prayers are with you, his family, at this most difficult time. I hope knowing how much he was appreciated by others will help ease the sadness of his loss a little bit.

I only knew Brett briefly, but I have had the privilege of doing support work for his product, Employment Law Daily at Wolters Kluwer. It’s been several days, but it is still shocking and sad to realize that Brett is no longer with us at work, as a part of his family, or with his circle of friends.
To his family: I realize this is a tough time, but I hope you can take comfort in knowing how well loved and respected Brett was

I knew Brett from law school and was shocked and saddened to hear of his sudden passing. I remember him as the kindest, sweetest guy whose sense of humor could make any day brighter. The light and levity he brought day after day made studying for the bar exam more bearable. I will always remember sitting in BarBri class wanting to cry only to end up laughing until I cried at one of Brett's jokes. My thoughts and prayers are with Brett's family and friends. Brett, we will miss you...Godspeed.

I'm so incredibly sorry for your loss. My husband Ryan and I had the honor and pleasure of knowing Brett through Carla and Justin for about 5 years. When I was a bridesmaid in their wedding, my husband was undergoing chemo, and he had to stay home last minute. Brett was such a gentlemen, he could see I was down, so he hung with me and danced with me, and that really cheered me up. What a classy guy, and so sweet and funny. He will be missed.

Lot's of Love and prayers,

Brett was a dedicated and intensely focused editor and attorney who was never satisfied with his considerable efforts. I worked closely with him on a routine basis, especially in connection with his "baby," Employment Law Daily, which he worried over like a father. He was alternately charming and cynical, but always passionate about his work. We at Wolters Kluwer are overwhelmed and saddened by his untimely death, but our loss is nothing compared to the loss experienced by you, his family.

Please accept my heartfelt condolences on this very great loss.

August 3, 2010

My deepest sympathy to the Gorovsky family on the loss of our dear friend and co-worker. Like most of us at CCH I was shocked by the sad news.

I have lunched with Brett and others for several years now. Brett always livened our table with his sense of humor and wind-ranging knowledge. He was always patient and open to the point of view of others.

As a fellow White Sox fan we shared the Championship Season in 2005 and together we humored the long suffering Cub fans in our midst.

Brett was a very hard worker, a perfectionist in fact, and contributed mightily to the quality and content of the products he worked on.

Brett loved his family dearly and spoke of them often with deep affection. He was a loyal and helpful friend and coworker. I will miss his honesty, sensitive nature, and sincerity.

You will be in our thoughts and prayers.
