Brenda Watts Obituary

Watts, Brenda Joyce (nee Nelson) Entered into eternal peace on Tuesday, August 6, 2013. She was born on July 2, 1940 in Chicago, Illinois. She was the seventh of eight children from the union of the late James and Carrie Nelson. Brenda (aka: Mother, Toby, Mom) was raised in St. Mary's AME Church and came to know the Lord at a very early age. In 1997, she joined First Baptist Church of Sauk Village, Illinois, where she remained a faithful member until her transition into eternal peace. She retired from the Chicago US Postal Service after 35 years of service. Mother was united in marriage to Willie Watts, Jr., and from this union were born three daughters: Sherilyn (Sheri), Karen (Kate), and Sandra (Pixie). A stepdaughter, Debra, also became part of this loving family. Toby devoted her life to God and her family. She was always available to listen, offer words of encouragement and wisdom. Suffering in silence and never complaining, she departed this life on August 6, 2013 at 6:29 a.m. Mom leaves to cherish her memories: sister, Norma Rhymes; four daughters; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, and a host of family and friends. A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 9 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, 22240 S. Burnham Ave, Sauk Village, Illinois. A burial service will be Friday, August 9 at 10:00 a.m. at the Memory Lane Memorial Park & Funeral Chapel, 6305 W. Lincoln Highway (US 30), Crown Point, Indiana.
