Betty Myers Obituary

Myers, Betty Belle

On Sunday, January 29, 2023 Betty Belle Myers, loving wife, mother, aunt, grandmother to three granddaughters, and great grandmother to eight great grandchildren (and counting), passed away peacefully at the age of 93. Betty was born on September 30, 1929 in Fresno CA to Joseph and Isabelle (Belle) Cartwright. She was the second eldest of four children and loved her three brothers: Robert (Bob), Gilbert (Gil) and Stanley (Stan). On November 8, 1950 Betty married Richard Eugene Myers (Dick), a love affair that lasted nearly 69 years and one that traversed the United States with multiple relocations for Dick's career with Nalco Chemical Company. As the relocation miles accumulated so did the accumulation of life-long friends that they maintained over the years. Their friends became family. In 2019, Dick preceded Betty in death. They raised one son, John. Betty's passion and love for her family was always her highest priority and brought her incredible joy. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, and community volunteer. She was known for her high energy, social skills, consistently positive attitude and athletic prowess (Golf, Tennis, ping pong, bags…if there was a game to play, she wanted in!) She loved the outdoors, sports, travel and especially her time with family and friends. Her legendary sky-blue eyes were captivating to all who met her and were reflective of the beauty in the world that she saw. Betty was preceded in death by her father, Joseph (Joe), her mother Isabelle (Belle), her older brother Robert (Bob) and her younger brother Gilbert (Gil). She is survived by her brother Stanley (Stan), her son John (Christine), her grandchildren and step-grandchildren: Allison (Blake), Michelle (Kyler), Cameron (Kent), Molly (Brad), Tim (Lucy); and her ten great-grandchildren: Beckett, Lyndie, Briggs, Brinley, Caden, Maren, Callan, Henrietta, Archer and Nora. A private memorial service and life celebration will be held by Betty's family on Saturday March 11th. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to King-Bruwaert Employee Appreciation Fund, 6101 S County Line Rd, Burr Ridge, IL 60527, www.kingbruwaert.org, (630) 323-2250.
