I'm so sorry to have just received this sad news via FB. I was your mom's roommate at Valparaiso University. Let me tell you, we had some wild times.. Betty was so much fun and always spoke her mind, which I admired. We reconnected when I moved back to Chicago and met for lunch. She hadn't changed! Most of her discussion was about her "wonderful" daughter. I even went to the Jewel to try and guess which gal you were!
I recently retired and wanted to get together again but I didn't hear back from her.
You had a special and proud mother and you made her very happy. I'm glad you have wonderful memories of her. Cherish them.
May God be with you and lighten your grief during this very sad time.

Betty, my dear, dear friend. I have so many memories it's hard to think of which one to mention. We certainly got in a lot of trouble!! Betty, I will miss you terribly. Love and God Bless you.

Dear Mom,

I know you are in a better place now. You are in heaven w/ dad, grandma, grandpa and the rest of our family.

I may not have told you often enough, thank you for everything you taught me. Especially, the Sperberg trait of stubbornness and the will to fight.

If it wasn't for you pushing me so hard I probably wouldn't be where I am today.

I love mom! Or should I say I love you Mrs. Donald Duck!!!

When I met Betty in 1972, she was not politically correct, but then the term was not yet invented. And as long as I knew Betty she never became politically correct. She was funny and loved to push the envelope of humor but always with love. I really enjoyed the photo gallery for the memories of Betty and all her friends. Everyone who knew Betty has is lucky to have great memories--thanks Betty.

I miss you Betty! But in my heart, I know that you are in a better place. Doing all the things you loved doing, now pain free. Reading, sewing, gardening, walking & even bowling.

Betty, I remember you fondly. What great discussions we used to have over the phone -- you in Chicago and me in Toronto. You were one of the best and loved by all. I will miss you and your laughter.

Betty, you we loved by so many. You will be missed.

Cindy, my heart cries for you. You were lucky to have such a great lady for your Mom. We all loved her. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Keep strong like the person Betty taught you to be.
