Betty Levonian Obituary

Levonian, Betty Lou 81, at home, on June 12, 2013. Beloved wife of 60 years to Harry; loving mother to Jaime and Timothy. Preceded in death by her parents, Reginald and Mona Foster. Betty was born on a farm in Good Hope, IL, moving to Macomb, IL, after the death of her father when she was a teenager.As a young girl she enjoyed horseback riding and playing the marimba.She attended Bradley University where she met her future husband. They married in 1953 and shortly thereafter moved to Chicago. She was a housewife and child rearer, protecting and nurturing her sons and supporting her husband. She was a member of the Bell Players acting troupe and once played The Princess to Harry's Rumplestiltskin.After her sons began college she worked the front desk at Midtown Tennis Club for 27 years, enjoying the people traffic and occasional celebrities she met there. Betty also enjoyed suntanning around a pool, merlot, the Chicago Bulls, "you might be a redneck" jokes, shrimp scampi, cheese quesadillas at Fernando's, a half order of french toast at the Golden Angel, cowgirl boots, tennis warmups, her mother's fur coat, her 1987 Chevy Blazer (with 45,000 miles on it), her Wisconsin in-laws, getting her nails done, ironing Harry's shirts for work and she was a world class T-shirt folder. She will be fondly remembered and missed by her family and circle of friends. Thanks to her recent caregivers, Donna and Valentyna. Services for the immediate family have been held.
