Bernice Hornibrook Obituary

New Windsor, NY

Bernice Joyce Hornibrook died suddenly at home, on Friday, December 26, 2008.

She was born January 14, 1924 in White Plains, NY, the child of the late John and Maude Joyce Novac.

She graduated from White Plains High School, attended Pratt Institute, and R.P.I. as an Engineering Cadet. Bunny was retired from IBM in 1990, as an Education Specialist and Technical Writer.

She was married to Dr. Walter J. Hornibrook of Winnipeg, Canada, on September 28, 1963. He predeceased her in 1991.

Bunny was an active communicant at St. Mary's Church in Newburgh, NY, St. Joseph's in New Windsor, and presentation convent in New Windsor.

She was a participant in the following organizations: the Powelton Club (Nine Holers Group,) IBM Retirees Club of Poughkeepsie, member of the Board of the Newburgh Day Nursery, a member of the Auxiliary of St. Luke's Hospital, Hospice Volunteer, Community Garden Club of Marlborough-On-Hudson, St. Mary's Seniors, Putnam/Dutchess Catholic Widow/Widowers Club of St. Denis/St. Columba (Hopewell Junction, NY), member of CLS (Center for Lifetime Study) Marist College, member of the Steering Committee for the L.I.F.E. Program at St. St. Mary's College, Newburgh, member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Court Patricia #195 (Sacred Heart Church, Newburgh), member of Cornwall Woodbury Monroe Horse Thieves Detecting Association.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, December 31, at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh, NY.

A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, Newburgh.
