Berenice Blacker Obituary

Blacker, Berenice Louise passed away Friday, October 31, 2003. She was active in the Order of the Eastern Star and was a member of the Campbell Chapter #712 in Highland Park. In 1969-1971. She was the Grand Representative of West Virginia. She was also the Grand Representative of Vermont from 1977-1978 and in 1975, she was appointed the Grand Marshall of Illinois. She is the dearest mother of the late James Blacker, Jean (John) O'Brien, Debra (Arnold) Simmons and Frank (Lynda) Blacker, Jr., adored grandmother of Ivy (Marco) Manriquez, Jason Trexler and Jennifer Blacker. Survived by her father, Arthur Sterns Jr. and one sister, Delores Ditzenberg, caring great-grandmother of Bilmer and Ryley Manriquez and Gabby Trexler. Also survived by six step-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren. She is the longtime companion of her dog, Pebbles. She is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Frank Blacker (September 9, 2003). She is also preceded in death by her mother, Charlotta Callen and her sister, Patty Bowland. She is a loving aunt to many. Visitation will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. Eastern Star Service Monday, November 3, 2003, at Kelley and Spalding Funeral Home, 1787 Deerfield Rd., Highland Park, IL., 60035. Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, November 4, 2003, at 10:30 a.m., at Kelley and Spalding Funeral Home with a graveside service following at Memory Gardens in Arlington Heights. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Eastern Star Home Fund, 9890 Star Ln., P. O. Box 258 Mecon, IL., 62544.
