To the children of Ben Neuhausen,

I just heard of Ben's death today. I am so sorry for your loss, and for the loss to the accounting profession of such a great man.

I met your father while working with the AICPA on accounting issues related to not-for-profit organizations. Your father was a wonderful mediator, and helped me and others find practical solutions.

He was also a gentleman, in all aspects of the word. God bless you and give you strength to find peace in your loss.

Dear Neuhausen Family,

We were very sorry to hear Ben died, but we know that is what he wanted. He fought bravely and was one of the finest people we have ever met. Ben was like that from the first time we met in high school. Please keep in touch. We were sorry we didn't get to speak with you at the funeral.

To Ben’s Family,

We’ve not met, but Ben spoke of you often. He was my boss and co-author for six years from 2003 to 2009. Although he was based in Chicago and I was in NY, the distance never seemed to matter. He is truly a legend - one of the greatest thought leaders of our time and of all time. And I will be forever grateful that I had the good fortune to get to know him as a person, as well as a professional colleague. The Center for Financial and Accounting Literacy has published memories of Ben and his thinking at http://www.fincenter.org/Ben_Neuhausen.htm . I am sure there will be much more written about his life and legacy in the days to come. We will try to keep the site up to date.

I share your sorrow and hope you will find comfort in knowing that his legacy lives on.

Dearest Neuhausen Family,

While I have not had the pleasure of meeting you; I wanted you to know that your father shape the lifes of many people, myself included. My first interaction with him was in my senior year of college, he was a visiting professor in advanced accounting at Frodham University. He had the uncanny ability to make the complex and arcane concepts simple and completely understandable. It was that interaction that shaped my decision to become a CPA. When I joined Athur Andersen, Ben continued to mentor me and would always make time to "bring me along"... He was also in high demand, but would make time to mentor and help develope so many aspiring
professionals... He was a very special person and make a mark on so many...

I find great comfort in the passage "God gives to those ... who give of themselves"... Ben gave so much to so many.

My prayers are with you all at this difficult time.

Dear Family of Ben Neuhausen:

I knew your Dad many years ago when we were both young CPAs at the FASB. He was a delightful friend and professional associate and even in those early days, highly regarded and respected. My heart broke to hear of his passing and of your unimagineable loss. May you find peace in the celebration of his life.

Todd,
My deepest sympathies go out to you and the rest of your family. You are in my thoughts and prayers. While I did not know your dad personally, I can tell that he was a good man from the values that he helped instill in you. Todd you have exhibited great character over the years I have known you and I can only think that your dad played a major part in this. I wish you and your family the strength to get through this tough time.

Dear Alissa, Jared and Todd,

I was very sorry to hear the new about Ben. As you know, we have been friends for a long time.

He was one of the most skilled, thoughtful and kindest individuals I worked with in my entire professional career. When I would consult with him on novel transactions I didn't always like the answer he gave me but I knew the answer was correct every time. Once I could satisfy Ben's concerns, the accounting issues were put to bed.

His reputation was unequaled in the accounting community and he cast a long shadow. Hearing that Ben concurred with a result was enough to convince most other professionals of the merits of the approach.

He wasn't wishy-washy in his advice either. He had a strong character and rock-solid moral compass. Once he reached a conclusion he believed was right, he stood by it.

He had a great sense of humor and was a great and loyal friend. I was very fortunate to have known him.

Please keep in touch!

To the family of Ben,

As Ben's partner in our mutual Andersen days, through 2000, I often relied on Ben's advice on many important professional decisions. Ben's personality and incredible personal style always made our contacts enjoyable on a one to one basis. He was all around a genuinely nice person to be around--I am sure this was even more true by many multiples, with his family and close friends. He will certainly be missed by his many professional acquaintances and good friends.

Sincerely,

Lloyd B.Morgan

To the children of Ben,

I have known your dad since 1982. First as a fellow partner in Arthur Andersen, followed by being a major client of Andersen--your dad frequently advised us, to a coworker in Andersen's national office (Professional Standards Group) to supporting my product at CCH (Accounting Research Manager) as an author. I cannot say enough good things about him. He always had time to help me, was never abrupt with me or others, and was a highly respected CPA known throughout the profession in the U.S.

I wanted to let you know how much he meant to me over the years in various capacities.

My best wishes to you, and God bless you in this time of sorrow and grief.
