Belli Edo Obituary

Edo, Belli J. Long Grove, IL, died Tuesday, August 26, 2003, at the age of 85, beloved husband of Tess; loving father of Allen (LuAnn), James (Karen), Andrea (Whit) Shepard, and Tina (Gary) Moulton; devoted grandfather of Debbie (Stu) Short, Kim (John) Humphreys, Susie (Patrick) Hardiman, Janine (Keith) Hogan, Sabrina, Bianca, Tessa and Amanda, proud great grandfather of Michael, Stephanie, Matthew, Jake, Jenna, Megan, Ben, Morgan, Lindsey, Nick, Allie and Kayly, beloved brother of Anthony (Louise). Mr. Belli was President of Belli & Belli Architects and Engineers, Inc. He began the firm in 1945 upon his return from active duty, serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was joined by his brother, Anthony, and later by his sons, Allen and James. Under his leadership, the firm has been recognized for design excellence by the American Institute of Architects, the Association of Licensed Architects and other professional, civic and community organizations. In 1993, the Art Institute of Chicago honored him in its Symposium entitled "Chicago Architecture and Design 1923-1993" for Saint Patrick High School, Saint Joseph Hospital, Saint Benedict the African Church and the Miracle House. A memorial mass will be held Saturday, September 6, 2003, at 9 a.m. at Saint Patrick's Church, 15000 Wadsworth Road, Wadsworth, IL, (847) 244-4161. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the Lung Cancer Research Fund, c/o Dr. Philip Bonomi, Rush-Presbyterian St. Luke's Medical Center, 1653 West Congress Parkway, Chicago, Il, 60612. The family wishes to express a special thanks for the compassionate care provided by the nurses and staff of Lake Forest Hospital.
