Barbara Etta Jones, 84, of Chicago, IL, passed away at home December 20,2020 surrounded by her friends and family. She was born December 19,1936 in Starkville Mississippi, the daughter of the late Florella Ware Jones and Willie Luther Jones. Barbara married twice, to Jimmie Outlaw (deceased) of Starkville Mississippi and Albert Louis Hurey(deceased) of Columbus Georgia. Barbara Majored in Black Studies and graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago Circle Campus in 1976. She became a social worker with the City of Chicago. After leaving the city she, continued her work with social organizations such as the Teen Living Program, Bobby E. Wright and CEDA. She received multiple awards for her volunteer work with Neighborhood Housing Services, Roseland Redevelopment Planning Board, and The Empowerment Zone. Public Service was a way of life for Barbara, she even became a foster parent with Habilitative Systems and Lutheran Social Services She's survived by three daughters; Shandra Outlaw and Beatrice Hurey of Chicago Illinois, Joyce Outlaw of Madison Wisconsin; Grandchildren Ashley and Albert James, Great-grandson Jaylen Siblings; Connie Isabell, Paul Jones Sr. and Vermont Jones of Chicago Illinois , Fran Jones and Joan Jones of Starkville Ms. Memorial Services will be held later in Chicago Illinois and in Starkville Mississippi.
