Schimmel, Arthur "Art" loving husband of Pearl (nee Noosbond), cherished father of Daniel (Anne) Schimmel, Barry Schimmel, Alan (Marla Reisman) Schimmel and Myrna (Gary) Paige, adored grandfather of Adrienne, Peter, Lisa, Steven (Christina), Bryan, Jason, Carly, Sharon and Robyn, treasured great-grandfather of Ethan and Dominic, fond uncle fo many, proud brother of Rita (Ralph) Pessirilo and the late Charlie, Harry, Irving, David, Helen and Minnie. He was the editor and owner of the Lawndale News and the Lakeview News. He also served as commander of Chicago Area Civil Defense during WWII. Graveside services Tuesday, 1 p.m., at Shalom Memorial Park Cemetery, 1700 Rand Rd., Arlington Heights. Memiorials may be made to the Jewish War Veteran's Memorial, 1811 R. My beloved Arturo, I can still feel myself holding your hand, or cutting your hair; you sharing many stories about Barry; your laughter, your tears, you very special extraordinary man. Thank you for allowing me to be recognized as one of your own. I shall always feel the same about you and beloved Pearl. I´m lighting the candle in your honor.
With a heavy heart, I recall all you endured health wise and ultimately what stole your life from us. I hold you in my heart and in my prayers forever.
I have always loved you and include you in every Shabbat and may G-d hold you in his arms and embrace you forever.
I love you and the special bond that we share. See you one day, with Pearl .

You remain a bright light and forever in my thoughts and prayers. Never forgotten. Thank you for allowing me into your family, your home and i loved our visits ( and making you corned beef sandwiches that Barry would share with you midnights)!
