Schimmel, Arthur "Art" loving husband of Pearl (nee Noosbond), cherished father of Daniel (Anne) Schimmel, Barry Schimmel, Alan (Marla Reisman) Schimmel and Myrna (Gary) Paige, adored grandfather of Adrienne, Peter, Lisa, Steven (Christina), Bryan, Jason, Carly, Sharon and Robyn, treasured great-grandfather of Ethan and Dominic, fond uncle fo many, proud brother of Rita (Ralph) Pessirilo and the late Charlie, Harry, Irving, David, Helen and Minnie. He was the editor and owner of the Lawndale News and the Lakeview News. He also served as commander of Chicago Area Civil Defense during WWII. Graveside services Tuesday, 1 p.m., at Shalom Memorial Park Cemetery, 1700 Rand Rd., Arlington Heights. Memiorials may be made to the Jewish War Veteran's Memorial, 1811 R.
