Arthur Reed Obituary

Reed, Arthur James Born June 14, 1932 in Blue Island, IL to James L. and Helen R. Reed, Arthur passed away Saturday, October 18, 2014 at his Schaumburg home. He was 82. Art worked for over 50 years in a variety of industries but it was his pastime activities that gave him the most pleasure. He was a lifetime member of the NRA, a BMW motorcycle enthusiast and a past member of the Board of Directors for the Lexington Green Condominium Association. His fondest memories were of the hours he spent and the lifelong friends he made at the North Avenue Roller Rink. Known as Uncle Art by his family and many friends, his greatest joy was spending time with the little "squirts" at any and all family gatherings. Art is survived by his daughter, Susan (Lee) Fifield of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren, Colleen Jackson, and Patrick (Ashley) Jackson; great-grandchildren, Amanda and Nicholas Jackson; brothers, James (Sandy) Reed, and Carl Reed; niece, Kerry Lyinn Reed; nephews, James R. (Danielle) Reed, and David J. Reed; grandnieces, Joselyn and Ainsley Reed. Services will be held privately. To Arts Family, I have know Art for 23 years I moved in across the hall from him with my 6 year old son. Over the years Art would help me out when my son missed the buss he would take him to school and also when my son would lock him self out of the house, you know all that stuff you do for your neighbor. I felt that our relationship would go on to bigger and better things when I went to get my mail and I cough Art in his boxer! and no teeth in after that I felt we were family. My dad would come over and Art and my dad would talk about how to fix things and then they were great friends.
I also got to know the password to the alarm system in the garage, and I also knew where the spare key was hidden.
I talked with Art about 2 weeks ago and he talked about his granddaughter that was here for a job.
I am sorry that he is gone but on the other hand he is not in pain any more and for that I am grateful to God.
If you need anything please give a knock on the door and I will try to help.
Sincerely,
Lisa and Eric Janowski
My mom and my brother Mary Ann and Kerry Brackus
