Arthur Kirklin Obituary

Funeral services for Arthur E. Kirklin, 88, of East Moline, are 11 a.m. Friday at St. John's Lutheran Church, East Moline. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline, with military honors. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, and one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church or to the Alzheimer's Association. Arthur died Monday, October 1, 2007, at Forest Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation, East Moline.
Arthur was born October 14, 1918, in Lafe, Ark., and was raised by William and Amanda Lohmeyer. He married Genevieve Tice on April 16, 1943, in Palmyra, Mo. She died in 1986. Art retired in May of 1976 as a powerhouse engineer from John Deere Harvester, East Moline. He served in the United States Army during World War II. In earlier years, Art and his wife enjoyed camping. He was a member of the Colona American Legion and the 40-8.
Survivors include children and spouses Arthur D. and Cindy Kirklin, Silvis, Ill., Terry L. and Judy Kirklin, Geneseo, Ill., Sharon K. Kirklin, Moline, and Linda J. Richardson, Arkansas; 14 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by a sister, Sylvia Thompson, and a daughter, Denise, who died at birth.
