I first came in contact with Rev. Hargrett, on the Bro. Don radio show many years ago, that aired on sunday morning. Then i started in 1983 to work at the fla. state university. I would run into him from time to time at the university. We aiways talked about the LORD. "I remember him tellig me that in order to be a preacher i had to be a good follower. Because i had to follow GOD. GOD has not called me to preach but i am a child of GOD!Family lean on the LORD he will not let you fall. Rev you can't crown him LORD OF LORDS nor KING of KINGS till i get there. See you Rev. see ya!

My thoughts and prayers are with you and the entire Hargrett family during your time of bereavement. May you find peace and strength in knowing we know and serve a God who is a very present help in the time of need. And as Reverend Hargrett would say, "I make the argument" that we will all meet again in that home up in the sky.

I remember Rev as a young guy in High School in the late 70's and playing some pick up games during the summer in the old Tully Gym. We were waiting to play the next game against the previous winners. they were much bigger and athletic than our team and we were intimidated. Rev said he would play center and just trust him. Well to say the least we did and we won. Rev said he was a tough guy from New York and he played like it. he roughed up the other team's big man and it made the rest of us tougher. We won the rest of the games that day.
I will always remember Rev as a proper talking tough guy with plenty of heart.
I think the last time I saw Rev was two or three years ago. He was playing a pick-up game with some FAMU students on the outside courts behind the handball courts at FAMU. I marveled how He was(jaw jacking)talking, running hard and just as animated as he was over 30 years ago.
I remember saying, he was still a trip.
in closing, I do know this, Rev was a Christian and he is with the Good Lord. In fact, he is probably in pick up game in heaven right now.
May God bless Rev and his entire family

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

I will miss my Cousin Arthur...he was always there for me and my children and was so supportive when my first husband was ill and passed away. When we lose something we don't know where to find it. Arthur and I often talked about what the bible teaches us. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. We also talked about what Jonathan said to David, To morrow is the new moon: and thou shalt be missed, because thy seat will be empty. May God grant us the strength to accept His will and keep THE LEGACY alive so that it may enrich the generations to come.
