Arthur Boisclair Obituary

Arthur J. Boisclair Age 88 Of Lynn died Thursday in Spaulding Rehabilation Hospital Boston after a lengthy illness. Husband of the late Norma M. (Baxter) Boisclair who died on April in 2002.

Born in Amesbury son of the late Alphonse L. and Roseann (Bergeron) Boisclair he was a graduate of St. Jean Baptiste High School and Franklin Institute in Boston.

A veteran of WWII, he served as a Chief Electrican’s mate in the U.S. Coast Guard.

He was employed as Superintendent and Estimator for Central Electric Co. Inc. of Lynn for 34 years until his retirement in 1977. He was previously employed by B. A. Marshall Electric Contractors.

A communicant of St. Pius V Church where he served as a Eucharistic Minister he was also a 30 year member of the St. Vincent dePaul Society where he served as President for 20 years and later served as President of the Particular Council of St. Vincent dePaul. In 1981 he was named by Cardinal Medeiros of Boston and Cardinal Cook of New York as a member of the Knights of Malta.

He was a life member of Valladolid Council No. 70 Knights of Columbus were he served as Grand Knight and was a past president of the Building Association.

In the City of Lynn he served as a member and later Chairman of the Lynn Housing Authority from 1959 to 1969, He was appointed to the Lynn Redevelopment Authority representing Labor in 1971. He was a member of the Pine Grove Cemetery Commission from 1978 to the present, and a member of the City of Lynn Finance Committee.

He was a life member of Chapter 64 of the Disabled American Veterans, and a life member of Capt. William G. Shoemaker Post 345 American Legion.

He leaves a daughter Linda A. Boisclair of Peabody and a Brother Alphonse N. Boisclair of Lynn, and Rita Hannify-Schaffner of Saugus. Grandfather of John A. Boisclair, Christine A. Currier and James L. Currier all of Peabody. Great Grandfather of James Arthur Currier and several nieces and nephews.

He was Brother of the late Eugene Boisclair, Irene Randall, and Jeanette O’Callahan-Batcheller.

Funeral from the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home 157 Maple St. Lynn Monday at 9:30 am Funeral Mass in St. Pius V Church at 10:30 am. Interment in Pine Grove Cemetery.
