Passed away Saturday morning, March 22, 2014 at his residence. Archie was born August 24, 1927 in Hastings, Nebraska, the son of the late Archibald and Martha (Kenyon) Murrish. He graduated from North Platte HS, Nebraska in 1945 and Iowa State University in 1949. On September 14, 1957 he was united in marriage to his loving wife, Jeanette "Jan", who survives. Also surviving are his children, Carol (John) Zinser, Dale (Cheryl) Murrish, Diane (Gerard) Bodalski, Linda (Jeff) Lewis; ten grandchildren, Heather (Chris) Warnick, Brian Zinser, Mike and Kayla Murrish, Mark, Paul, Elizabeth, and Margaret Bodalski, Meagan and Stephen Lewis; a sister, Esther Waller; and several nieces and nephews. After retiring from a 35 year career as a chemical engineer at DuPont in East Chicago, Indiana, Archie and Jan moved to Portage where he worked as a consultant at Michigan Carton and Paperboard in Battle Creek. He was devoted to doing things with and for his family. Archie especially enjoyed traveling and photography. He will be missed by many. Friends may meet the family Friday from 4-7pm at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick. A service to celebrate Archie's life will be held at 10:30 am Saturday, March 29, at the First United Methodist Church of Kalamazoo, 212 S. Park St. with Rev. John Boley and Rev. Doug Vernon officiating. Following a light luncheon, interment will be in Central Portage Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the First United Methodist Church or to the charity of your choice.
