Anthony Mastronardi Obituary

Mastronardi, Anthony "Tony" age 80, born January 17, 1929 to Adamina (Vaccarelli) and Agostino Mastronardi, passed away peacefully Sunday morning after a long illness. Tony was the devoted husband of Katherine (Tomasic), beloved father of Maria (Noshir Contractor), Katrina, and Matthew, cherished brother of Dominic Mastronardi and Ann Ingratta, and of the late Mary LeDonne and Michelina (Millie) Doup, fond uncle to many nieces and nephews. Tony was a retired barber and popular former officer of Journeyman's Local 576. For 47 years, he was the cheerful proprietor of Tony's Barber Shop in South Deering, and later on the East Side. Friend to many and a founding member of the 99th Street Guys, in his retirement he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and the solitude of the family cottage on East Lake in northern Michigan. He will be remembered for his keen love of dogs, strong support of educational causes, and fierce devotion to his family. My deepest sympathy to all of Tony's family during this difficult time. My recently departed father George brought me and my brother to Tony's shop in South Deering for many years. I will always remember Tony's friendliness and his refusal to give me a particular haircut that I asked for, saying that it was a "hoodlum haircut".

My family and I wish to express our deepest sympathy in the passing of Tony. He was a cheerful and friendly man who was liked by many friends and fellow barbers. The world will be a little colder without him and he will be missed by many.
