As I am currently out of town, I am sorry that I could not attend the services for Andy. However, I did want to take this opportunity to express my condolences to all of Andy’s friends & family.
Since we grew up down the block from each other, it seems as though I’d known Andy all my life. Based on that history I can honestly say that I had always known Andy to be a good friend to me, a good son to his parents and a good brother to his siblings.
Although I had moved out of Chicago a while back, I used to run into Andy on occasion when I had business down at the Daley Center. Those chance meetings fascinated me in the way that our connection always seemed to pick-up right where it had left off years before. I guess that was because Andy never saw people as former friends, just friends that he had not seen in a while.
Actually, the last time I spent any real time with Andy was when I was driving down Milwaukee Ave at Bryn Mawr and noticed Andy walking into the Mil-Mar (?) bar and grill. If I remember correctly, Andy was working there at the time. We spent an hour or so getting caught up and Andy seemed very satisfied with his life as a Cook County Deputy Sheriff with a new wife.
While I’m very sad to hear that Andy has passed, I am glad to know that Andy seemed quite content with where life had taken him.
Andy will be missed.

I wish to express my sincere condolences to the Wise family. Andy was a great guy and a very good Deputy Sheriff. I had the privilege of training Andy at the Cook County Sheriff´s Training Academy. He is one of my more memorable Recruits. I will always carry fond memories of him with me. I also express my condolences to his co-workers. I am sure that they will miss him much. The Department has lost a good Officer.
