Andrea Miller-Nevels Obituary

I am so saddened to hear of Andrea´s passing. We worked together at UIC and she was a dear confidant. We swapped successes and challenges in our College positions, as well as in our personal lives. I´m sorry we loss touch as she moved to North Park College and I began working for the State. She was truly a shining light and will be greatly missed by many. My sincere condolences to her husband William, family, and friends.

Andrea and I grew up in Chatham together. She lived on Calumet and my family was on Prairie. One of the sweetest individuals I've ever met. Devoted lotal and committed to whatever she put her heart into. My sincere condolences to her husband of 30 years and her family. Wilson Family

Andrea was a dear colleague and unselfishly supported me when I served as the Director of Ujima AHEC and while I served as treasurer of the Chicago Chapter of NAMME. She was very kind and supportive. Sending my prayers and condolences to William and all of her family.

My sincerest condolences. Lifelong friend( we grew up together from 10yrs on) to mentor @UIC( she taught me EVERYTHING I knew about International Admissions and minority recruitment; to me hosting her bridal shower and eventually being her tenant for several years My entire 35yr academic career was influenced by her touch. Every advanced degree I earned to this day-Encouraged, motivated and supported by her through each academic journey.
To be absent from this body is to be present with Christ. I KNOW she has transitioned into her reward. She loved students and people -more importantly she showed it. Agape love for everyone daily. She will be sorely missed. Another grand glorious warrior for Christ plucked for HIS garden. Rest well my Sister,,,,,, Job well done!!

I will miss you, Andrea Nevels. You were a remarkable individual who had a genuine love for students and a strong dedication to their success and well-being. Your commitment to their success and well-being was one of your greatest strengths.

I met Andrea in a Life Coaching course. She quickly won the hearts of everyone in the class. She step up and took charge and lead our group. We lovingly called her Momma Goose. Some people only cross our paths for a short time, in this case a week, but leave a life long impression on your heart. Andrea will forever hold a dear place in my heart.
