Ambritt Pryor Obituary

Ambritt Freeman Pryor
Norfolk - On March 1, 1928, in Norfolk, Virginia, Harry and Carrie Freeman were blessed with their daughter, Ambritt Marina, named after one of her father's sisters. On December 8, 20ll, she was called home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ at Holy Cross Hospital, in Silver Springs, Md. under the care of the Hospice Team.

Ambritt was educated in the Norfolk, Virginia Public School System, graduating from Booker T. Washington High School in 1945. She was an honor student and active member of the Tau Beta Society. Ambritt attended Howard University where she majored in English with a minor in music. While attending Howard University, Ambritt's second marriage was to her late husband, Gilbert Eugene Pryor. She was also a past member of The Eastern Star.

At an early age, Ambritt gave her life to Christ at Jerusalem Baptist Church in Norfolk. When she moved to Washington, D.C., she joined her husband's church, Second Baptist Church of Washington.

She was employed as a clerk at The Department of Commerce, Pattern Office and later worked at the Metropolitan Police Department as a supervisor in The Corporate Information Technology Records Division or better known as ID & Records. She retired after 39 years of dedicated public service.

Ambritt was the matriarch of the family. She loved her children and grandchildren and often spoke of their many accomplishments. She loved Fine Arts and traveling. She was a very vivacious person who exuded love and kindness.

Ambritt was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Carrie Freeman; her brother, Arthur; and daughter, Jill Yvette. She leaves to cherish fond memories: four daughters, Carolyn Horne, Phyllis Anthony (Gregory), Denise Brooks (Ronald), and Pamela Andrews-Bondzie; four sons, Gilbert Jr. (Debra), Michael (Iris), Gary, and Stephen (Juanda); her loving brother, Harry Freeman (Helen); nineteen grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; seven nieces and nephews; cousins and a host of friends.

She will be buried with her husband and daughter in Arlington National Cemetery.

Today we laid you to rest at Arlington Cemetary with Dad and Jill. I thew it would be hard; however, your spirit being there with us all made it that much easier. We're still sad that GOD called you home; for HE loved you best and He only loaned you to us for a season, a reason, and a lifetime. I thank HIM daily for you and Dad because you both made we want to be somebody and to count for something. I thank you for the love and lessons you taught me while you were with me. I will always remember the valuable things showed me. Thank you for being my mother and loving me in spite of myself. Be at peace and always stay near because you will always be loved and needed.

I love you, Mom

Hey-a Mom,

You are so missed by all that knew you and people who didn't wished they had. Those being the many friends and coworkers of your children. They all said "Gosh, I wish I had a chance to meet you mother, she sounds like a wonderful person. I believe we could have been best friends with all the loved that was expressed at her service." My only reply is "yeah, you really missed out on a beautiful loving, and fun person. God's knows she left us some memories." LOL You take care and keep watching over us and help us get through another day without your physically being here.

Love you much. Your daughter
