Alice Weinfeld Obituary

Weinfeld, Alice was born in Highland Park, IL, she was the daughter of Dr. Gustave and Rosalie Weinfeld, she died peacefully on February 17th, after a brief and courageous battle with cancer a month before her 69th Birthday. Alice was a very special person. After being de-institutionalized in the early sixties she learned to live alone and manage her life. She worked for many years at The Schwinn Bicycle factory, where she helped publish her division's newspaper and then at Helene Curtis. Her life before and during her retirement was filled with helping others. She published and distributed her witness as a born-again Christian, made audio tapes for the blind and played her trumpet and sang for seniors and church groups. She literally had hundreds of friends and correspondents. She is survived by her brothers, Arthur Weinfeld of Lincolnshire, IL and Tim Weinfeld of Santa Cruz, CA, and their wives. She will especially be missed by her many adoring nieces and nephews. Memorial service will be held March 19, at Methodist Nursing Home, 1415 W. Foster, Chicago, IL, at 2 p.m. Anyone wishing to honor her memory is encouraged to visit someone in a hosptial, nursing home or confined to their home. Alice would be very pleased. Arrangements under the direction of Neptune Society, 847-296-4842. www.neptunesociety.com

She was a very sweet person. I Helped take care of her at the cenicle for the hadicap retreat. She was a good person to get along with. I will miss her dearly, but I know she is in a better place, where she is free.
