ALICE FREDERICKS Obituary

Alice G. Fredericks passed away peacefully at the Ellis Residential and Rehabilitation Center, Schenectady, NY, on Thursday, November 17, 2011. Originally from Pearl River, NY, she was born on April 1, 1919, the daughter of Edna and Ray Marlatt of Newark, NJ. She married Harold Fredericks and came to Rockland County in 1940. During WWII she worked in civil defense and in the USO, having three brothers in the military service. A longtime member of the Pearl River Methodist Church, she took part in women's groups, and was particularly active in youth activities. She took a leading part in Methodist Youth Conferences, seminars, camping and canoeing trips. Teaching arts and crafts was one of her enjoyments. In recent years she taught in the Gracepoint Fellowship Church School in New City, NY. She enjoyed many years of loving and learning experiences with the Gracepoint Church family. She is survived by Harold Fredericks, her husband of 71 years; her daughter, Judith (David) Brown of Schenectady; her son, Donald (Christine) Fredericks of Rotterdam; five grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and one great great-grandchild. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2011, 1 p.m. at the Community Fellowship Church, 3616 Currybush Road, Schenectady (Princetown), NY. The service will be preceded by a visitation hour. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, North Kelly Road, Princetown. Memorial contributions may be made to the Community Fellowship, 3616 Currybush Road, Schenectady 12306 or to Gracepoint Fellowship, 384 New Hempstead Road, New City, NY 10956. There will also be a memorial service at Gracepoint Fellowship on December 10, 2011 at 2 p.m. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of the Edison Wing at Ellis Center for their sensitive and compassionate care of Alice during her final days, and to Dr. David Phelps for his guidance with difficult decisions.
