Alexus Colon-Finley Obituary

Colon-Finley, Alexus Katherine

Alexus Katherine Colon-Finley was born March 29, 1992 in Chicago, Illinois to Terrance Finley and Yvonne Colon. Alexus showed promise early in life as a creative and intelligent child excelling in many subjects and impacting her peers along the way. Alexus was a bright young woman who shed her light on all around her and stood out as a leader whenever possible. At a young age, she enjoyed volleyball, basketball, playing video games, arts & crafts, and being in the company of friends and family. Always one of the hardest working & dedicated, she was awarded the Daniel Murphy scholarship to attend La Lumiere boarding school. She would later graduate from Naperville North in 2010 where she would then go onto attend Kennedy King college where she received her Associates of Arts in Broadcast Journalism. While there, she was inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society-Lambda Rho chapter. A true scholar, Alexus returned to school and received a certification in Foundations of Human Resources at DePaul University in 2019. She was in the process of pursuing her bachelor's degree from Roosevelt University. In 2015, Alexus achieved her proudest accomplishment in becoming a mother; she gave birth to Evalynn Monique Franklin—Her beautiful "baby love". Alexus showered everyone with love; she cared deeply for her family and friends. She was a devoted and passionate mother. She was spontaneous and adventurous always willing try new things. Alexus was raised by a village which helped her foster a sense of pride for her multicultural heritage that she passed along to her daughter. She constantly worked on improving herself and those around her. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter: Evalynn Franklin, her parents: Yvonne Colon, Terrance Finley, grandmother: Yvonne McKinney, three brothers: Terrance, Elijah and Julian, one sister Aliyah, one aunt: Becky, five uncles: Mike, Jose, Reggie, Ricardo and Charles a host of family and friends

Alexus you weren´t only family to me you were way more than that. it´s crazy how ppl would think we were twins or even thought you were my younger sister plenty of times and we never denied it. You were an amazing mother to Eva. I still don´t understand why you are gone so soon. But I promise the village will help Eva grow and remind her how much she has always meant to you and we will continue to shower her with love for you. You will forever be in our hearts. And when I see that Puerto Rican flag I´ll forever hear you yell BORICUA.
Love you Alexus

The world has lost an incredibly beautiful and talented human being. I was deeply saddened to hear the news. Alexus lived her life in such an exemplary way and has been an example of a glorious life well lived. She will forever be in the hearts of so many Taylor teachers, family and friends. Her Spirit has touched so many and we were so blessed to know her loving heart. Godspeed Beautiful Alexus.

Alexus, If I could run to you I would. I´ll miss you as deep as the depths of the 5 oceans and 7 seas. I´ll miss you more than the amount of clouds there are in a day and the amount of stars there are at night. I´ll miss you the same way the sun and moon miss each other when they´re rising and setting. I´ll miss you the way a drought misses the rain. I´ll miss you how winter misses summer. Most importantly I´ll miss you the way the whole hood will miss growing up together. Thank you for bringing light and laughter into our lives and warmth into our hearts. My deepest condolences to your loved ones.
