Alex Vickas Obituary

I met Mr. Vickas in 1999 when he taught my BASSET class. I saw he was fellow greek and I introduced myself. Sure enough he served with my grandfather in the AHEPA. From there it has been a nice friendship. I will miss my friend. Great man and a gentle soul.

I send blessings of comfort to the Vickas family as he was a part of my Trumbull family for nearly 20 years.

I grew up in the city, where there were very few examples of positive, happy, god loving men as positive reinforcement to the neighborhood kids. Mr. Vickas exemplified all that a great father figure was to us. He was like one of my uncles. I remember the time when he took me and another safety patrol captains to the annual awards ceremony. He took us to McDonalds afterwards and when I ordered a cheeseburger, he said cmon kid get a Big Mac, you're a captain, you can handle it. He also had some great picnics and softball games. He was a great uncle to us kids, even though he had his own family. He was a maga, as the greeks say. God bless his soul.
