For the Family of Professor Larson
I was deeply saddened to learn about the passing of Professor Larson. I was introduced to Dr Larson as a freshman at UIC in Geography 101. He made a profound impact on me and my future. He was also instrumental in encouraging me to further my education and attain a Master's in Geography. As a result, I am a Geography and History teacher in the middle school level at St. Mary of the Angels School in Chicago. Even after all these years I still remember the "stories" he told the class that directly related to the topic he was teaching.
A few years ago, one of my students was in Professor Larson's class, at UIC, and told me how much he enjoyed it.
I also followed Dr. Larson by teaching at Wright college. Years ago he taught a travel and cultures class there and my parents attended and thought he was a wonderful teacher.
I guess at the end of our lives, it is always wonderful to know that in some small way we postively impacted someone's life for the better. Thank you Professor Larson for your encouragement and your love of Geography, they made me a better teacher and person.
May the Lord bless your soul.
