Albert Gale Obituary

Gale, Albert J. Albert J. Gale, 90, of Elmhurst. Beloved husband of Lillian J. nee Barrile; fond father of Greg (Alison), Audrey and Roger (Karen); grandfather of Anthony, Marina, Connor and Colin; brother of Lee Kelen and the late Helen Cook and Hank Galeotti; brother-in-law of Rosalie (Bruno) Czyowski and the late Connie (Francis) McGovern. Albert Gale was a loving family man devoted to the well being of his wife and family. Throughout his life, until the day he died he was a constant source of inspiration for his children. His parents died at an early age and he was determined to give his children the childhood he never had. Selfless, humble, kind, patient, non-judgmental, he chose to see the good in people and the world. He loved to watch and participate in sports, winning numerous senior Olympic medals and playing catch and softball with his children and grandchildren. He loved his work as a licensed architect with several prominent Chicago architectural and engineering firms where he oversaw, designed or assisted in numerous commercial projects from schools, including renovations of York High School in the 50's, to operating facilities and office buildings including the new 15 story office building for Harris Bank in the late 60's at Franklin and Monroe and the new 1.9 million sq. ft. General Mail Facility for the US Postal Services at Canal & Polk in Chicago in the early 90's. Visitation at Ahlgrim Funeral Home, 567 S. Spring Rd., Elmhurst from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Prayers at the funeral home 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, May 25 to Visitation Church. Mass at 10:45 a.m. Private interment at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials will be appreciated for the American Cancer Society. Info 630-834-3515 or www.ahlgrim.com.
