It's so hard to believe it has been nearly a year. I will always remember a man whose love of life, love of family and unswerving loyalty to friends was and is second to no one. One day we'll meet again. My thoughts and prayers are continuously with Jeanne, Lee, Grant and Stuart. May you always rest in God's grace!!!

Ok, Alan we have been pulling pranks on each other since the 1st day of high school but this is your best ever! This has been the 1st time since 1968 that we havn't spoken for more than a couple of days! You've got your whole family in on this one and ITS NOT FUNNY ANYMORE! I never thought I would miss your obnoxious middle of the night calls...but I do! CALL ME !!

I just heard of Al's passing through one of his classmates at SIU. Please accept my most heartfelt condolences at your loss. I always enjoyed spending time with Al. Conversation was sure to be lively (even at early morning hockey practices!) and his smile and laughter were always infectious. He was a true gentleman and perhaps the most devoted father to his three great sons that I've ever known. I apologize for not being as timely informed as I should have been.

I cry as I write this. Your loss is our loss. I was stunned when you told me about Alan's passing today. I had no idea. I will miss him, his friendship, and his humor greatly. My heartfelt sorrow for you and your sons.

I have found comfort in those words many, many times recently, myself.

Dearest Jeanne;
I’m so so sorry to hear that Al’s gone; it’s so hard to believe.
It’s also hard for me to not to cry every time I realize we won’t see him or be able to e-mail him anymore.
Of all of the wonderful and nice things that Al was, the thing he was the most, was so in love with you, and so proud of those boys.
Everyone could see in his eyes how much he loved you. I will always admire what you two had together.
He could be and usually was a real gentleman, and we will all miss him.
The world is a much sadder place now…

We were very sad to hear about Alan's passing. Tom and I are very proud to say we knew him. We have wonderful memories of Alan and all of you when we would drop off and pick up our boys. Many a morning Alan and I would rush/drive/run together for the train to get to work at CM. Then in later years Tom would run into Alan at the courthouse or around town. He will surely be missed. We will keep Alan and all of you in our thoughts and prayers,

my deepest sympathies to the jacobson family. altho i have not had any contact with alan since high school, i do remember having great times with him then. it is hard to lose someone and the biggest strength is in knowing that others are thinking of you and remembering alan with deep love and affection.
