Adam Raney Obituary

Adam Joseph Raney, age 23, of Algona was granted his angel wings on Sept. 7, 2007, following a courageous battle with cancer. His final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that Adam touched throughout his short, yet very memorable, life.
Adam graduated from Bishop Garrigan High School in 2002 where he played various instruments in band and excelled in art.
He also attended La James College in Fort Dodge. Although he was unable to finish college due to illness, he cherished the time he had making new friends and enjoying his independence.
Adam spent much of his time designing his tattoos, playing pool and cards with friends and spoiling his dogs and cats. He valued his family and friends.
While Adam's illness made him appear frail, he possessed strength, perseverance and an ability to overcome incredible odds and challenges. He enjoyed music, watching movies, sleeping late and loved the color orange. His beautiful smile always made you know that things would be okay. Although we will miss him everyday, he will forever remain in our hearts.
Adam is survived by his loving parents, Howard and Marlene (Golwitzer) Raney of Algona; brother Jason Raney and his wife Heather and their children Jacob and Jenna of Fairmont, Minn.; brother Daniel Raney and his wife Amber of Blairstown; sister Diana Moore and her husband Brian and their children Nathaniel and Olivia of Wesley, and grandmothers Theresa Golwitzer and Dorothy Raney, both of Algona. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers John Golwitzer and Willis (Howard) Raney.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at St. Cecelia's Catholic Church in Algona with Father Paul Eisele officiating. The Wilson-Lentz Funeral Home of Algona was in charge of arrangements.

Howie and Marlene,
I am so saddened to hear of your Adam's passing away. I watched the tribute to him. What a smile. You'll miss that smile but he'll remain in your hearts forever.
Life never prepares us for the loss of a child. I wish I knew what to say to comfort you both and your families. Just know that I am praying for you at this time and send my love.
Sending hugs and love
your old friend from childhood days, Charla
