Virginia Nieman Obituary

Virginia Parry Nieman, passed away peacefully July 27, 2003. She was born December 11, 1910 to John M. and Emma Jacob Parry in Elsinore, Utah.ÊAfter her fathers death the family moved to Provo, Utah where she attended B.Y. Academy and later graduated from East High School in Salt Lake City, Utah.ÊShe enjoyed tennis and swimming and attended L.D.S. Business College.ÊWhile working as a secretary in Honolulu, Hawaii, she witnessed the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941.ÊIt was there she married her life long sweetheart Gilbert O. Nieman on February 28. 1942. That marriage was later solemnized in the Hawaiian LDS temple.ÊAfter the war they settled in San Jose, Ca and raised their family.ÊShe was an active member of the LDS Church all her life and served various callings in the Relief Society and Primary.ÊOne of the high lights in her life was the time she spent with her husband and family in Australia when Gilbert supervised the Church building program.ÊShe spent the last six years in Orem, Utah close to her family.


She is survived by her husband, Gilbert, two sons and one daughter; John W. (Pat) Nieman, Clayton, California; Edward J. (Ged) Nieman, Perth, Australia and Jeanne (Scott) Harrison, Orem, Utah; 16 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and one sister, Jasmine Ballard, Redlands, California.ÊShe was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters and two brothers.


Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 31, 2003 at 11:30 a.m. in the Sharon 4th Ward Chapel, 445 South 700 East, Orem, Utah.Ê Friends may visit with the family at the Chapel from 10 to 11:00 a.m. prior to service.ÊBurial will be in the Orem City Cemetery.
