As an occasional customer of her sewing shop, I was saddened a couple months ago to discover Mrs. Day was no longer there.
Over the past ten years, I would bring her old pants with the bottoms ripped out--such that anyone else would have thrown away, and she would make them usable. My unusual requests got to be a standing source of amusement between us. For this reason, I always looked forward to and would contrive reasons for going back.
I'll miss that--and HER!
