Winford R. Aldrich, 92, passed away on Sunday. Winford was born in Pierrepont, NY, the son of Clifford and Susan Briggs Aldrich. He was a farmer until coming to the Cleveland area. He then began working at Bill Rapp Pontiac and was a Service Representative in the parts department for over 20 years until retiring in 1984. Winford was predeceased by his sister, Doris; 2 brothers, Claude and Bernard; and his son-in-law, Bill Mathers. He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Virginia; 3 daughters, Linda Mathers, Cleveland, Kate Aldrich, North Syracuse, and Mary Jo and Mark Dennee, Bridgeport; 2 sons, Gary and Wilma Aldrich, Central Square, and Steven and Ruth Jones Aldrich, Taberg; 11 grandchildren, Deborah and Paul Paciga, Brewerton, Theresa Mathers, Cleveland, Bill and Marilyn Mathers, Syracuse, Lisa Frank Dawson, Utica, Charlene and Richard Gnatek, Whitesboro, Jay Taskey and Travis Taskey, both of Syracuse, Corrie and Kylie Aldrich, both of Rome, Matthew Aldrich, Albany, and Clifford Aldrich, who is in the military; 19 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held Friday, 10 a.m., from the Watson Funeral Home, 631 S. Main St., Central Square. Calling hours are Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment in Lakewood Cemetery in Cleveland. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in Winfords memory to the Alzheimer's Association.
