Bill was a Master Gardener when I took over coordination of the program in 1993. He was one of the people who kept the program up and running between coordinators. We owe him much.

Bill and I go back to 1934, when I was a resident of Allendale School for boys and Bill was the son of William Thompson, who was the assistant to Capt. Bradley. The Thompsons lived on the campus and Billy was the envy of us kids. I have lived all my life in Lake County and have followed Bill's success as an educator for the State and Lake County. My condolences to your family. Leo Carvis

I first met Bill in 1958 as a Fox Lake school board member, and then President. There has never been anyone that I admired or respected more, than Bill Thompson. In 1965, Bill was Best Man at my wedding. For anyone that knew Bill, he very well might have been the Best Man & Best Friend in their lives.
Rest well old friend....someday we will meet again.

La Verne,
The article by Charlie Selle in the News Sun was "spot on". Bill was a hard nosed administrator, but a fair and principled one. It was a privilege for me to know and work with him. Regards, Merv Pilotte

Bill was my great mentor and friend. I enjoyed working as a teacher at Forest School in Fox Lake where Bill was the Superintendent so willing to help the new teachers. Bill was a wonderful friend of our family.
