When I was at Quigley, the phrase Days of the Giant was often heard regarding the seminarians of old.
The brothers Sheridan would have been front row center in the Giants team Picture.
Every living priest (except one, George McKenna age 99 and he taught with both Bob and Bill who went through 103 East or 7700 South had their lives touched by Bob or Bill. In addition countless other people also had their lives touched by the two brothers.
Bob made Mercy Mission or St. Cate's gym available to Q students on Thursdays. Bob was a Spiritual Director and English teacher.
Bill reffed our basketball games, taught English and became Athletic Director.
Bill had great loves in his life (not necessarily in order);
His love of God which he shared in so many ways with the Quigleyites.
His love of his family. When I saw him this summer at a Q' event, he once again remembered that I was an associate at St. Albert's, and he as always made mention of his familya nephew in Minnesota and a niece in Indiana if memory serves me correctly.
His love of Q alumni. Whenever there was a gathering of the alums, he made a point to be there with his smiling face and sunny disposiition.
He was always most gracious. Granted he had a couple of flawsNotre Dame and the Sox.
I'll share one story of his hospitality and graciousness.
A few years back I was in the South Shore area and I thought I'd say hi. The secretary(?) called him and said I was there. He came to the head of the stairs with a towel wrapped around his waist, told me to come up and sit in the rec room and he'd be in there after he dressed. He got dressed, we shared a lengthy conversation and had dinner together.
The brothers Sheridan were two of the finest men I knew and am pleased they were a part of my life!

To the family/friends:
May your hearts be filled with wonderful memories as you celebrate a life of longevity and joyful times you had together. May God's loving kindness give you the strength you need to endure (Psalms 29:11).

Fr. Sheridan was the epitome of a spiritual leader, teacher, and Norseman. God bless his family and may he rest in peace.

Father Sheridan was truly a role-model. He was my son's teacher, as well as a friend, at Quigley North Seminary. He was a wonderful, kind man. He will be sorely missed.

I'm writing in behalf of my mother. My mom and uncle both have known the Sheridans since they were all kids. Her name is Ruth Kustak and my uncle's name is Richard Kustak. She sends her condolences to all of the family. I've heard many many stories about all William's brothers and sisters. She wishes she could attend, but she is 90 also and it's hard. RIP, Fr Bill.

Fr. Sheridan was an superb priest and educator and a wonderful, kind and remarkable man. Today, there is endless discourse about role models; there is no better standard of a role model as a priest, as a man and as a human being than the good Father Sheridan. Fr. Sheridan will be deeply missed, but I am sure a part of who Fr. was is in everyone of his students, acquaintances, friends, family members and fellow clergy.

Dear Father Sheridan a loved and respected priest who will be remembered fondly by all the people who's lives he touched during his service to the church in Chicago. He was a wonderful roll model for so many young men during his years as a professor, spiritual director and althletic director at Quigley. He was a very good man and a very good priest.
I am sure he was received in heaven with open arms. May he Rest In Peace.
